I'm Nezih Girgin.
If not inborn, I have been a carpenter since I was 9; when my uncle gave me a mini-carpentry set as a birthday gift.
Frankly, I don't recall any time period that I didn't long for working with wood; carving and/or shaping it. The end products were a variety of stuff: a wooden calendar at age 11, small pieces of baby furniture and toys for my nephews and nieces in the following two decades and finally a completely hand-made violin in my late 40s.


For more than four decades, I’ve always engaged with craftsmanship; repairing and rebuilding shelves, cabinets, fitting and fixing a range of furniture, even furnishing the house with my amateur sculptures, which eventually earned me the nickname: man-of-all work.

I was educated to be an engineer, but it wouldn't take long me to turn to a wood-art and woodcrafts-man. I worked for many furniture companies with my designs and manufactures for years.

I recently moved to the UK, whose way of living and culture has always been an admiration as well as an inspiration to me. I founded Mortise and Tenon Company with the objective to inspire your daily life with my creative yet practical woodwork ranging from furniture, garden comfort pieces, cribs to toys and frames which are not only of good quality but also environment-friendly. Hopefully, my passion and love of wood will satisfy the demands of your everyday life and likings.
